Feauture & Follow Friday!!

Before blogging how would you find out about new books or did you? - Suggested by A Great Read

Well, I grew up where most of my friends did not actually read, except for one. Most of my friends would make fun of me for bringing a book to school for fun - *gasp* the horrors - and call me a geek or a nerd. My best-friend, actually read to but she did not read what I read. So how I found out about new books was whenever we went shopping my first stop, and the remainder of where I would be for that shopping trip, was the bookstore. I would literally sit on the floor and read all those books. I would get glares from the clerks! Also right around when I was thirteen I discovered GoodReads, which was the greatest day of my life. It is a website all on books, and it amazed me. I also would ask my older sister on what was going on in the book world. There was one time I was on a plane and this lady saw me reading, I think twilight or another big book, and she would tell me what books I would love. Unfortunately, it took me a lot longer to find out about the new books than I do now.
Also when I went to the cities and there was a Barnes and Noble, my home away from home, I would sit there for hours - in the middle of the aisle - digging my way through the books.

What about you guys, how did you find out about new books?

So I gave myself a challenge/goal: I want to grow my blog to 100 followers in the next few months. I know it is a long shot but it is a goal I am going to work towards :). I also will be doing a giveaway at the end of my goal/challenge :)

  1. I am so sorry you were teased =( In high school I never went to any of the parties I would rather spend my time reading. Still to this day I would rather read or go to the bookstore then just about anything. People just don't know what they are missing by not giving books chances. I went to a bookstore the other day and they didn't have chairs so I sat down in the floor, and they asked me to get up because it was a fire hazard! Bookstores really need chairs at least a bench haha! Thanks for stopping by my blog today Kat =) xoxo

    1. They do need to have chairs, I have a friend that went into a book store and sat on the floor and grabbed a book to read a little to see if he would like it. Well the clerk told him to either buy the book or get out. And he said that he was just reading it to see if he liked it....he just came back the next day to finish it anyway hahah

  2. Hopping through. I definitely made my love of reading clear as a kid. My friends liked reading but no one like I did. Luckily not many made fun of me for it.

  3. I think it should be the other way round. Those people should be made fun for missing out on the joys of reading!:)

  4. My friend would tease me for reading paranormal books. Nothing wrong with the reading but she would always call my books vampire books. And then I would argue at the time that my particular read was about werewolves! And then list all the other paranormal beings I read other than vampires! It was all in good fun. But yeah, I was really the only kid in class who wanted to read my personal books as well!

  5. I didn't discover Goodreads until I started blogging and it's literally been such a treasure trove! It's terrible when you get judged for reading for pleasure, but I just told myself it was people being jealous of not having such an awesome hobby! At least now we're surrounded by other readers ;) I'm following on GFC! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great weekend!

  8. I brought books to school too, but the kids didn't tease me...the teachers did! I got in trouble I don't know how many times for reading in class. Sometimes the teachers would even take my book away. I hated that. I always thought it was kind of ironic, getting in trouble at school for reading. LOL. I used to love trips to the bookstore too, but Borders went out of business and the Barnes and Noble here has switched to selling Nooks and toys and games. There are still books, but nowhere near the amount the used to have. Goodreads and blogs have really been helpful to me more recently. Old follower on bloglovin'. Happy reading!

  10. Aww, what a shame that you didn't have many book-loving friends. I was lucky to have quite a few friends to share books with growing up. Glad it didn't stop you from pursuing your love of reading, though. Sometimes you have to do what you feel like doing even if you're going against the crowd. I was late to discover Goodreads but I love it now.

  13. I'm glad that even though your friends made fun of you for reading, you still did it anyway. I also love that despite the glares from store clerks, you read on the bookstore floor!
