R is a young man with an existential crisis--he is a zombie. He shuffles through an America destroyed by war, social collapse, and the mindless hunger of his undead comrades, but he craves something more than blood and brains. He can speak just a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse. Just dreams.

After experiencing a teenage boy's memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim's human girlfriend. Julie is a burst of vibrant color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that R lives in. His decision to protect her will transform not only R, but his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world...

Scary, funny, and surprisingly poignant, Warm Bodies is about being alive, being dead and the blurry line in between.

A book that kept me enthralled with it's poetic views from a zombie. While I did give this book a 3.5/5, which I will explain why, I quite enjoyed myself. The first reason being is that Warm Bodies was told in a view of a fricken zombie! I found that to be the coolest thing in the world. I mean how many books out there talks about a zombie that eats brains and falls in love with a human...NOT MANY!

I loved what Isaac Marion did with Warm Bodies. I loved the poetic views and his creative words. He used them so well.

So let's get the good out of the way first! R, the loveable zombie that wants to feel something...anything. I fell in love with R around the first few chapters. I loved his dry humor, that always got to me. I would laugh in the most stupidest stops known to man and not even understand why. The way he depicted the world was very intriguing, there were definitely morals to every thing he said. R also talked about the simplicity of being a zombie which I found quite intriguing. Through his eyes he showed that you never had to be anything. That whether you're black, white, etc. They were all the same in the end.

While R does talk about the ways that it might have happened, there is no direct saying on how everyone came to being zombies. It could have been a natural disaster, R talked about politics and the way of life going abrupt. Yet there was no given answer. Although R stated something that quite intrigued me. He said it was the monster within us all that finally decided to come out and we were to busy with how we wanted life to care. That idea in itself raised questions in me and what actually did happen!

The romance between R and Julie is something to see. She is completely human and here is R a zombie. It definitely is not a romance right off the bat...and honestly it felt more of a mutual understanding for each other rather than a romance. Although, by the end I do notice the attraction between the two rather than in the beginning.

I honestly do not know why I did not like this book very much. It sometimes got hard for me to understand different aspects of this book. The romance was meh..ok I guess. The characters were great but, I felt that R was the only one to completely evolve throughout the book. I enjoyed the dry humor and irony but there were parts of Warm Bodies that felt dry in general.

My recommendation: Borrow from a friend before buying or the library!

Read on my Zombie lovers!!!
