In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king's champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass--and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

[Summary taken from GoodReads]

First off the cover is fricken gorgeous. I mean look at her she is all bad-ass caring her swords with the long silver/white hair and this look about her that says she should not be messed with. Also the purple coloring and the design in the background is down right gorgeous as well.

I honestly have no idea how I am going to write this review. Do I right it in a screeching manner or a blubbery mess manner. This book was that good, it created so many emotions in me that I just wanted to sit in a corner and cuddle the book to my chest along with proceeding to throw it against a wall...is that against some reading rule?

I must say that the strong hold of this book was the beautifully written character's. Celaena is amazing, like more than amazing she is the fricken bomb. While I have read many strong character's she has definitely outrun them all. She is strong, brave, reckless, and very sarcastic. With a mix of bad-ass in there as well. She never backed down without a fight, and she was out for blood through most of the book. Which I wouldn't blame her for, since her past was not ideal. Her life was hell, as in the fiery pits of demon type of hell. I made a mistake in thinking she could not grow as a character through the book since she was already well developed, well I was seriously wrong. READ THE FRICKEN BOOK!!!!

Let's not forget the sexy...drool worthy Prince Dorian and Captain of the Guards Chaol... I honestly think I swooned and when I mean swooned. I fricken panted like a dog when they were introduced. Who am I kidding I would have just pounced and called it a day. They are both well developed, and both have pasts of there own, which I immensely enjoyed. As which one she will end up with, well you need to fricken get your hands on this bad boy now to see.

I am Team Chaol all the way, as In I will wear t-shirts with is name written all over it!!!!

The Author did an amazing job at creating this world and once again the added references into the book to help you out with places and names. Which I love because I always have a hard time pronouncing names.... the plot was well thought out and the world was created to the tea!!!

Also I have gotten glares and been smacked for reading this book. I screeched a lot and cried. I got weird looks from my roommate and my floor mates. My brother almost took my book and through it out the window. So I highly recommend it and would suggest getting it like NOW, go to your closest bookstore and get the WHOLE FRICKEN SERIES!!!

Ok...I am good now, Peace out!!!!

p.s. READ ON!!!

  2. I totally 100% know exactly how you feel. I just finished reading this book a week or two ago and am absolutely in love with it (and was also given strange looks for the weird noises I made while reading it). Nice review!
